    BESSEMER — A.D. Johnston biology students have been enjoying an informal lecture series that started last fall. The series started when Roger Greil, an aquatic lab manager at Lake Superior State University, talked about lake sturgeon, and continued when Peter David, a wildlife biologist from the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission, talked about wild rice.   • Sweet day for local Girl Scout troops

    IRONWOOD - A troop of area Girl Scouts' personal assistants was hard at work Thursday morning at the Ironwood Public Safety Department. A total of 17,424 boxes of Girl Scout cookies arrived, up from 500 and 1,000 boxes from last year, Lisa Spencer said. Janelle Irwin, of Wakefield, was on hand, assisting and collecting her daughter, Rachel Curry's, 211 boxes of cookies.   • Man creates 10-foot-tall dragon made of snow

    KALAMAZOO (AP) - A 10-foot-tall dragon made of snow has made an appearance outside a southwestern Michigan home. The creature in Kalamazoo is the creation of Mike Huver, who says it's the latest in a series of snow dragons that he's built. Huver tells the Kalamazoo Gazette that he does it for the fun. Huver said he took the day off work Wednesday to take advantage of a brief burst of relatively warmer weather. More snow and cold is forecast in Michigan.... Full story

    BESSEMER, Mich. - Robert G. "Too Tall" Bouillion, 54, of Stevens Point, Wis., died unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, in Bessemer. He was born March 3, 1959, in Wakefield, son of the late John and Cara (Bailey) Bouillion, and spent his younger years in Watersmeet. The family then moved to Bessemer, where Bob graduated from A.D.
