  • Iron County Fair to feature 1900s horse-drawn hay baler

    SAXON, Wis. - Saxon farmer Kenny Clement said Iron County Fair-goers will be treated to some new tractor-related events during this weekend's three-day celebration. Clement said an early 1900s vintage hay baler that is horse-drawn was found at the old DeRosso farm near the former Cary Mine in Hurley. He said Kayla Saubert and her horse will operate the old baler, which is also called a hay presser. "We've tried it out and actually baled a couple of bales with it," he said.   • Ironwood City Commission asked to fund viewing deck on Mt. Zion

    IRONWOOD — The Ironwood City Commission took no action Monday on a request to fund construction of a viewing deck on Mt. Zion. The city’s parks and recreation committee had supported city funding for the deck, according to Community Development Director Michael Brown. The total cost for materials would be about $5,000, with the city providing half and the remaining $2,500 being raised through a fund drive.     ALOHA, Ore. — Michael James StVincent, 62, passed away unexpectedly on June 26, 2015, at his home in Oregon of heart disease. He was born April 1, 1953, to Frank and Vi StVincent in Milwaukee, Wis. He was married previously to Marian Buck, and eventually remarried Brenda StVincent, whom he was married to for 33 years. Michael attended Wakefield High School in Michigan. He was in the Michigan National Guard for six years, especially enjoying the two-week summertime drills for the camaraderie.
