Concert raises donations for local food bank

IRONWOOD - Sounds of music filled Longyear Park as the Gogebic Range Concert Band performed on Tuesday evening.

Sitting on lawn chairs and blankets, 30 people gathered at the park. People in attendance were encouraged to donate food items or money for the Iron County Food Bank.

Before the concert started, people had donated 15 bags of food.

Members of the Klassic Kruisers Car Club were in attendance. They displayed their classic cars.

The Range Band performed songs from a variety of genres. With conductor Larry Gabka absent for the evening, Marie Eggleston took over.

While the band played, children played in the park.

After the concert, car club member Geri Tuma said she liked listening to them.

"It was really nice. I like big band music," she said.
