Bessemer — A Ramsay man was sentenced to prison on drug and other charges in Gogebic County Circuit Court Tuesday.

Martin Daniel Stein, 32, was sentenced to a minimum of 28 months in prison and a maximum of 15 years for possession of methamphetamine. He was also sentenced to 90 days for a misdemeanor illegal entry charge.

Stein pleaded guilty to the two charges in November as part of a plea agreement that dismissed a charge of possessing meth on school/library property. The agreement also called for the dismissal of three charges — fourth-degree fleeing a police officer, reckless driving and operating on a suspended or revoked license — in a separate case.

The meth and illegal entry charge stems from a February 2016 incident when Ironwood Public Safety Department personnel discovered Stein sleeping in the front porch of a Lake Avenue house. When Stein was searched, meth and drug paraphernalia were found on him.

The second case was from May, when IPSD officers responded to a report of a suspicious van in the parking lot of an Ironwood apartment complex. As the officers approached, the van fled. The driver was later identified as Stein.

Stein received credit for 221 days for time served.
