MERCER, Wis. — There are some new faces at the Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce, including new director Chelcie Pinsonneault.

Pinsonneault, who started her position March 27, said she has enjoyed the job so far, but is still settling in as director.

“I mean it’s definitely a learning curve,” she said. “It’s something I’m not used to, but it’s a challenge I’m willing to take on and learn all I can.”

One of her primary tasks is focusing on the chamber’s membership.

“We really want to start focusing on our membership, the members we have now and gaining new membership,” Pinsonneault said.

“It’s really nice to hear from everybody. The community has a bunch of great ideas that we’re hoping to implement within the next couple years,” she continued “But right now we want to focus on what we have and make that great, and then hopefully we can move on to more.”

She is also getting ready for the summer chamber events, including the popular Lupine Junefest on June 10.

“It’s the 11th annual one so we want to keep making it great,” Pinsonneault said.

Originally from New Hampshire, Pinsonneault said she came to Wisconsin for college, graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a history degree in May 2016.

“I like the Northwoods. It’s a simple way of life. It’s nicer now that the sun is starting to shine,” she joked.

She said she came to the director job as an offshoot of her interest in museum and event planning.

Joining Pinsonneault in the office is the chamber’s new office manager, Linda Anderson.

“We’re brand new and fresh, so we’re learning together,” Pinsonneault said.

Anderson started her job April 5, having worked a variety of jobs in the Mercer area, including with the Mercer School.

“I spent four years as an aide,” Anderson said. “I had a variety of duties as a teacher’s aide, library aide, secretary to the special education director, kitchen aide and office assistant.”
