Hurley - A June 5-6 jury trial was averted in Iron County Court Tuesday when a 46-year-old former Hurley woman entered no contest pleas to delivering a controlled substance near a school and bail jumping.

Tracy Lynn Gehrke was sentenced to a year and a half in prison on the two counts and 18 months of extended supervision by Iron County Judge Patrick Madden.

The prison time will run concurrently with a sentence she received and is serving in Gogebic County, however.

Special prosecutor Fritz Schellgell said if there's time left for her to serve in Wisconsin at the end of her Michigan sentence, he will consider that it be added to the extended supervision.

Gehrke's attorney, Sam Filippo, said she will be eligible for parole in Michigan on Oct. 22, 2018. He said Gehrke has been enrolled in a "boot camp" program through the Huron Valley Women's Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti.

"Good luck to you," Madden said to Gehrke, supporting drug treatment for her.

Schellgell said the state would waive any costs.

The Iron County charges were filed on June 30 and the drug offense occurred on Aug. 17, 2015, according to court records.

Gehrke was sentenced in Gogebic County last December for delivering less than 50 grams of heroin.
