Wakefield post warns against mega lottery scam

WAKEFIELD — Trooper Jerry Mazurek from the Michigan State Police Post in Wakefield notified the Daily Globe of a new scam in the area.

The target of the scam receives an “Award Notification” of a mega lottery. with the target’s name as the winner of a large sum of money.

The scammers claim the lottery is designed and promoted by the European Union, United States and United Kingdom governments and other international lottery institutions to promote the Commonwealth Games 2018.

Enclosed with the award notice are methods of contact with the scammers. The winner can either travel to Madrid, Spain, to collect his winnings or pay to have them delivered to his home address or banking institution.

Enclosed on the bottom of the form are multiple stamps and signatures to make the mega lottery appear legitimate.
