Lindquist to address GCC graduation

IRONWOOD — David M. Lindquist, Director of Licensing and Athletic Properties at the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities, will be the graduation speaker for Gogebic Community College’s 84th annual commencement ceremony on Friday, May 11.

The ceremony will be at 6:30 in the facility named after his father, the David G. Lindquist Student and Conference Center Gymnasium.

Lindquist, a GCC alumnus, holds a bachelor of science degree in Speech Communications from Northern Michigan University. He is an active member of the International Collegiate Licensing Association and was named its National Licensing Director and National Licensing Program of the Year in 2010.

Lindquist is a member of the National Collegiate Licensing Board and has been a speaker at several national conventions. He has been at the forefront of establishing international licensing programs in the Far East and Eastern Europe. He also serves on the board of the Workers Rights Consortium for Corporate Responsibility.

This year, the University of Minnesota’s Licensing Program will generate its highest royalty revenue in school history when it exceeds $2 million.

Lindquist is active in his church as a prayer leader and a Youth Ministry director. He is the voice of Monticello High School Magic football, as well as boys’ and girls’ basketball.

He was assistant varsity girls’ basketball coach at Rogers High School for six years and has been a basketball official for more than 30 years.

David and his wife, Julie, have been married for 32 years and reside in Monticello, Minn. They have two daughters; Melissa, 29, and Kristina, 25.

Lindquist is the eldest son of the late long-time Dean of Students David G. and Audrey Lindquist, formerly of Ironwood.
