    HURLEY, Wis. - Anne Josephine Ojala, 93, of Hurley, died early Thursday morning, Dec. 31, 2015, at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley. The former Anne Stimac was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Trimountain, Mich., daughter of the late John and Anna (Klarich) Stimac, attended Trimountain Grade School, and graduated from Jeffers High School in Painesdale, Mich., in 1939 as the youngest member of her class.   • Parade and fireworks kick off weekend snowmobile races

    Even though it took a bit longer than last year for the trails to open, the recent snowfall meant snowmobilers could travel the Gogebic Range, with a parade of vintage snowmobiles traveling from Ironwood to Hurley Friday night to watch fireworks and kick off the weekend's Snowmobile Olympus races in Ironwood.   • City commission approves housing pension carve-out

    IRONWOOD — The city commission this week approved a “carve-out” agreement for the pension fund of Ironwood Housing employees. City treasurer Paul Linn said creating a separate division of the pension fund will allow city officials and the Ironwood Housing Commission board to get a “more accurate picture” of assets and liabilities of the housing employees.
