  • Snow will revive city overnight parking rules

    By RALPH ANSAMI [email protected] IRONWOOD — With snow in the forecast for Friday, Ironwood area residents are reminded the ban on overnight parking in the city is in effect. Vehicles may not be parked on city streets from 2 to 6 a.m. so snowplow crews can clear the streets for traffic, effective Nov. 1. Since there has been only a trace of snow so far, the Ironwood Public Safety Department has not been handing out tickets for overnight parking violations, but that will change.     IRONWOOD, Mich. — Rudolph “Gutch” Frank Vukelich, 83, of Ironwood, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood. He was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Ironwood, the son of Joseph and Anna (Bether) Vukelich. Rudy attended Newport Elementary School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation, Rudy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Seattle and later in San Diego, where he was MP during the Korean War.     WAKEFIELD, Mich. — Faye Cornish, 84, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2015. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and companion. Faye will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
