    HURLEY - Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said Thursday he's working on making sure propane heating fuel gets to state residents. Walker said at a press conference in Hurley that he has been in contact with Texas Gov. Rick Perry's office about obtaining propane. Walker also said he has issued executive orders waiving weight limits so large amounts of propane can be brought into Wisconsin.     IRONWOOD - The Ironwood School Clarinet Choir is heading to DeKalb, Ill., Thursday to participate in the annual Clarinet Cornucopia at Northern Illinois University. For band director Steve Boyd, the trip marks a 27-year tradition with the students. "As soon as school starts, they are asking when practice starts," Boyd said. "They really enjoy this."   • Crappie fishing trip yields record in another species

    A crappie fishing trip turned into a record-setter for a Michigan man in another species. Dale Blakley, of Niles, caught a 53-pound, 46-inch flathead catfish on Monday, Jan. 13, on Barron Lake in Cass County at 3 p.m. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has confirmed the catch as a state record. Blakley was ice fishing for crappies when he landed the record fish, verified by Brian Gunderman, a MDNR fisheries biologist, at the Plainwell office.     GILE, Wis. - Regina M. Laguna (nee LaSota), 91, passed away quietly Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at her home, with her grandson and grandchildren at her side. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was married for more than 60 years to Phillip "Chucka" Laguna, who preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2004.     ONTONAGON, Mich. — Francis R. “Frank” Urbis, 88, of Paulding, died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Aspirus Ontonagon Long Term Care hospital. Francis was born in Ewen on April 5, 1925, son of Andrew and Mary Urbis. He married Patricia Knapp, of Watersmeet, on Nov. 5, 1955. They had been married for more than 58 years.
