Wright Friday with a surprise for Ironwood's sixth graders, telling the students that they would all be able to ski for free this winter as part of the resort's decision to give away ski passes to all sixth graders at four area schools. It began drizzling shortly before noon on Monday in downtown Ironwood, continuing the soggy spell. Rain totals are kept for 24-hour periods to 7 a.m. for the National Weather Service at the Gogebic-Iron Wastewater Treatment Plant off Cloverland Drive and it had rained every day from Friday, Oct. 23, through Monday. "Dori" Garreau, 86, of Hurley, Wis., died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, with her family by her side, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, following a brief illness. The former Doris Augustson was born April 7, 1929, in Hurley, daughter of the late Niilo and Hilma (Ruslin) Augustson. She attended Cary and Hurley schools and graduated from J.E.     MILWAUKEE, Wis. - David Wilcheck, 70, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2015, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He always had a positive attitude, never complaining. David was born in Ironwood, Mich., on March 31, 1945, to Bert and Clara Wilcheck.     ONTONAGON, Mich. — Alfred Francis Szaroletta, 86, of Ontonagon, went to be with his Lord on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015. He was born to Francis and Ignace in Ontonagon on March 2, 1929. He married Yvonne Aubrey June 6, 1954. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Alfred worked for the White Pine Copper Mine for a time before spending most of his working career at the local paper mill, where he became the Superintendent of Pulp, Power and Recovery.
