The Youth Fishing Jamboree is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon and the first 50 children to be signed up will receive a free rod and reel combination and a lunch of hot dogs, bratwursts and soft drinks, sponsored by the Superior Bass Fishing Club.     WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Iris (Steele, Clement) Brown, 100, died peacefully at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield on Sunday, May 1, 2016. Iris R. Steele was born Oct. 23, 1915, to Oscar and Sarah Steele of Gurney, Wis. Her wish was to be cremated with no viewing. After graduation from Saxon High School, she worked in Chicago as a cook and then in a torpedo factory to aid the war effort during World War II.     EWEN, Mich. — Florence Irene Eldredge, 90, of Ewen, passed away on May 3, 2016, at home. Florence was born in Ewen to Simon and Irene Anderson on Aug. 2, 1925. She graduated from the Ewen School. She married John “Red” Hasenbeng and had four children, John, Nancy, Sandy and Pam. Later, she married Arch Eldredge and had two children, Marybeth and Roger.     EWEN, Mich. — Edith M. Applekamp passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 3, 2016. Born May 24, 1938, to the late Ernest and Elsie Lindsey in Hulbert. As a child, she and her family moved to Ewen where she spent the rest of her life. Edith was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland.
