    BESSEMER - The Gogebic County Road Commission agreed Monday not to close the Lake Road spring, after coliform was detected there. Instead, they decided to put warning signs by it and see if Ironwood Township will help test the quality of the water.     WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield City Council heard Monday night of the city’s continuing efforts with the Gogebic County Emergency Management Team to apply for funding to mitigate the costs corresponding to the severe storm on July 11-12. The city was denied FEMA assistance, but continues to apply for funding from other relief organizations. The city is working to estimate damages to private properties.     TUCSON, Ariz. — George Andrew Gayan passed away at his home on Aug. 4, 2016. George was born in Bessemer, Mich., on Aug. 7, 1928, to Leo and Helen Gayan. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo and Walter; and his beloved wife of 52 years, Dora Helen. He moved to Tucson in 1957 and worked as a mechanic at various garages before being employed by ASARCO in Silverbell for 25 years.
