    IRONWOOD - While the Luther L. Wright High School graduating Class of 1965 was more than three times bigger than this year's graduating class, the two classes face common challenges. "Life is going to come at you fast. You will make mistakes, but don't dwell on them, and move on," Judy Holst, a member of the Class of 1965, said in addressing 2015 graduates on Sunday.   • Hurley celebrates 30th rally with mud bath

    HURLEY - As part of Hurley's 30th annual Memorial Day weekend, Sunday featured the popular Mud Pit Races, which drew a large number of spectators who rimmed both sides of the pit. The races were held at the Trailhead on the Iron Horse Trail. Hurley Fire Department race officials said the partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s may have helped bring out more people.     IRONWOOD — Even though rain cancelled the parade portion of Ironwood’s Memorial Day celebration, the remainder of the ceremony continued as residents gathered Monday to remember those who died while serving their country. The ceremony began with the performance of a number of patriotic or spiritual songs by both a vocal chorus directed by Denise Woodward and a hand-bell choir directed by Gail Hellier, as well as the placing of American flags at the head of several symbolic graves. Leoni, 85, of Southgate Village, Hurley, and former longtime Gile resident, died peacefully Friday, May 22, 2015, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, with her loving family by her side.     GREENFIELD, Wis. - Josephine C. Pedergnana, 97, former longtime Kimball resident, died peacefully Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Oak Crest Villa in Greenfield. The former Josephine Bogun was born June 26, 1917, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Vakula) Bogun. She married Caesar Pedergnana in 1940.
