    MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has denied an appeal from the Bad River Band to stop exploratory drilling near Upson. Late last week, DNR waste management director Ann Coakley said the drilling will continue. The Bad River Band of Indians contended the impact of drilling was not fully considered during the 10 days the DNR had to decide on whether or not to allow Gogebic Taconite to drill.     BESSEMER — A project in the works to create some green space and honor heritage downtown Bessemer on Mary Street drew ire at Monday’s Bessemer City Council meeting, due to a lack of parking. The former Dolores Urman was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Chicago, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Coleman) Urman, and attended Queen of Angels Catholic School in Chicago and St. Patrick’s Academy in Momence, Ill. Ron was born on Dec. 12, 1939, in Kellogg, Idaho, the son of Thomas M. and Tina M. (Nyman) Saari. He graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood in 1958.     SAGINAW, Mich. — Shirley Ann Dowd, of Saginaw, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013, at home, surrounded by family. She was 80 years old. Shirley Ann Christensen was born on Sept. 19, 1932, in Saginaw, to the late Albert and Iva (King) Christensen. She married Harry Dowd in 1954 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Saginaw; he survives her.     IRONWOOD, Mich. — James A. “Cheeks” Rigoni, 55, of Ironwood, died Friday, June 14, 2013, in Ironwood. He was born March 3, 1958, in Ironwood, son of the late James and Helen (Jussila) Rigoni.
