    IRONWOOD - Saturday marks the final day to turn in projects for the second annual Foot in the Door12-by-12-inch Art Sale at the Downtown Art Place. For months, artists have picked up square, wooden boards and decorated them any way they chose. Some boards are on display at DAP, and feature a variety of mediums and subjects.     EAST LANSING (AP) - The smell of death in the air at Michigan State University drew crowds following the blooming of the corpse flower. The roughly 5-foot tall flower has the formal name Amorphophallus titanum. Its smell is described as like that of a rotting body, or sometimes merely like dirty socks.     LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Zoo is welcoming three little - and very rare - piglets. Officials on Monday announced the birth of three Chacoan peccaries. The triplets were born on June 3. The pig-like animals are named for the Gran Chaco area of Paraguay, where researchers found the first live specimens in the early 1970s. Before then, scientists had only fossil records and thought the species was extinct. Chacoan peccaries are critically endangered because of hunting and habitat loss....

    GLADSTONE, Mich. - Mae Elaine Tyree, 87, of Ontonagon, passed away early Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Gladstone. Elaine was born in Highland Park to Lloyd and Elsie (Broemer) Mattson on July 18, 1926. The family returned to Ontonagon in 1932 and moved to an 80-acre farm on the Cranberry Road in 1934.
