    HURLEY-People young and old experienced life before the turn of the last century during Heritage Day on Friday presented by the Iron County Historical Society at the Iron County Historical Museum. Heritage Day kicked off three weeks of the Iron County Heritage Festival. At the museum on Friday, people were able to watch a blacksmith, a broom maker and a musician playing antique instruments.   • Newly displayed pictures tell story of Ontonagon's past

    ONTONAGON - A project by the Ontonagon Township Board will acquaint residents of what it was like to live in the village during the "old days." Large pictures from the past were installed Saturday on the outside façade of the Memorial Building in Ontonagon. The pictures, many of them four-by-eight-feet in dimension, highlight the Ontonagon harbor in the 1800s, the business district during the same era, logging, and the most famous of the pictures called "Up from the Ashes."     DULUTH, Minn. - Frank S. Prezkop, 54, of Hurley, Wis., died Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was born May 29, 1961, in Ironwood, Mich., son of the late Frank P. and Lenore A. (Panizza) Prezkop, and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley in 1979. He worked for a number of years as a mechanic at several auto repair shops both in and outside the area.     WAKEFIELD—The city of Wakefield is set to welcome race fans to the annual Outboard Nationals Monday through Saturday, Aug. 1. Considered by the chamber of commerce to be the “Super Bowl of boat racing,” the outboard nationals draws in competitors across the U.S. and Canada to determine who’s the best.
