    IRONWOOD — Northland International University swept the Lindquist Center clean on Tuesday night by defeating Gogebic Community College’s Lady Samson volleyball team 25-13, 25-13, 26-24.     IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP — Ironwood forced overtime, but Bayburn scored just four minutes into extra time for a 2-1 win Tuesday. Ironwood tied the game in the 60th minute on a goal by Jon Erickson, but the Devils didn’t have any subs after that and fell four minutes into overtime. “I was never so proud of my kids,” Ironwood coach Don Cvengros said. “They played as hard as they could with no subs.” The Red Devils didn’t start well in their home and Northern Lights Conference opener.... Full story

    IRONWOOD, Mich. — Katherine Raykovich passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013. The former Katherine Rupnik, daughter of Anton and Anna Rupnik, was born on Oct. 30, 1920, in Ironwood. She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1938 and attended Woodward Business College. She was married to Anton I. Raykovich on Oct. 5, 1952, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1970. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and John Rupnik; and a sister, Anne Pisca. Katherine was employed with... Full story
