  • Ironwood Theatre hosts 'Grease' sing-a-long

    IRONWOOD -Dressed in poodle skirts, black T's and and saddle shoes, "Grease" fans came to historic Ironwood Theatre on Saturday to sing along to the classic flick. Prior to showing the sing-a-long version of "Grease," Ironwood Theatre and the Klassic Krusers hosted a car show. Because of rain, there were a limited number of cars shown. Overall, Beverly Tousignant's 1968 Plymouth GTX won best-in-show. Following the car show, those dressed up in costume participated in a costume contest. The... Full story

    MARQUETTE - Points weren't easy to come by for Watersmeet's Frannie Zelinski or Ewen-Trout Creek's Molly Niemi. But they both contributed, Niemi for the North, which beat Zelinski and the South 68-62 in Saturday's U.P. All-Star Classic at Marquette Senior High School. Niemi finished with three points, on a 3-pointer she hit to tie the score at 5-5 with 14:45 left in the first half. She also took a charge from Zelinski with about three minutes left in the game.   • Penokee Range 4-H holds 'meat tasting' in preparation for county fair

    HURLEY - Members of the Penokee Range 4-H program were at Stoffel's Country Store on Saturday to offer customers samples from a variety of dishes made with animals raised by the 4-H program. The purpose of the samples was to attract interest in the 4-H animal auction, held during the Iron County Fair in August.     WAKEFIELD, Mich. – Martha J. DaPra, 98, of Wakefield, passed away Saturday morning, June 20, 2015. Martha was born on March 19, 1917, in Wakefield, a daughter of Frank and Agnes (Patyk) Skolasinski. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1935. On June 21, 1941, Martha was united in marriage to Peter Charles DaPra in Wakefield. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield. Martha was employed by Divine Infant Hospital until its closure and then worked part-time at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility. M...
