  • Iron County studies refinancing loan

    HURLEY — The Iron County Finance Committee continued to move forward with the process of refinancing courthouse-jail construction bonds from 2004 Thursday. If the bonds, originally borrowed for $3.2 million, are refinanced, the county is projected to save $15,000 to $20,000 a year, based on interest rates as of Wednesday, according to Dave DeYoung, senior vice president of the public finance department for Stifel, Nicolaus and Company of Brookfield, Wis.     KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — Twin water spouts put on a spectacular show over Lake Michigan, near the Wisconsin shore. The water spouts were sighted a couple of miles off shore about 1:30 p.m. Thursday after a funnel cloud was sighted in the Wisconsin town of Kenosha. Sgt. Bill Beth of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department said two water spouts merged into one large one, then split.     WAUSAU, Wis. — Donald D. McCoy, 80, of Ironwood, Mich., died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau. He was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Aitkin, Minn., son of the late Jay and Minnie (Cole) McCoy, and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1951. He then served stateside in the U.S. Army as a baker at Ft.
