    IRONWOOD - Gogebic Community College Foundation honored three individuals and one organization for their contributions to the college and commitment to the community at its 19th annual "Celebration of Achievements" banquet Thursday.   • Hurley students art projects displayed in Human Services building in Madison

    HURLEY - Fifteen Hurley students had art pieces displayed at the Wisconsin Department of Human Resources building in Madison from Aug. 10 through Oct. 3. According to art teacher Terry Davis, the idea for the art display came after Hurley alumna Julie Morello contacted Davis about having students' art displayed in the building.   • Vehicle sparks caused Yosemite wildfire

    YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) - Sparks from a vehicle caused a wildfire at the edge of Yosemite National Park that led to the death of a firefighting air-tanker pilot this week, officials said Thursday. Fire investigators found that the blaze broke out Tuesday because of hot metal fragments from a vehicle creating sparks, Yosemite said in a statement.
