    HURLEY - The Hurley City Council finds itself in the enviable position of having a $600,000 grant to spend. At its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, the council discussed the money with Jeff Seamandel, of MSA Professional Services, the city's engineering firm. Seamandel said the federal Army Corps of Engineers grant was originally designated for the city's well project, but it can be used for another project.     WAKEFIELD, Mich. - John Stanley Johnson, 82, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at his home. He was born on Nov. 24, 1931, in Bessemer Township, a son of Stanley and Mary (Huhtala) Johnson. John attended the Wico and Wakefield Schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 14, 1954.
