  • Ironwood schools to use new technology in classrooms

    IRONWOOD - Faculty at the Ironwood Area School District met Wednesday to discuss new ways to teach in the classroom using technology. Recently the district purchased 50 new Chromebooks, laptop devices created by Google, Inc. Each computer runs off of the Internet, and is a "very cost effective" tool teachers can use.   • FAA eases rules on electronic devices on planes

    WASHINGTON (AP) - Airline passengers won't have to "turn off all electronic devices" anymore - they'll be able to read, work, play games, watch movies and listen to music from gate to gate under new guidelines from the Federal Aviation Administration. But they still can't talk on their cellphones through the flight.     WHITE PINE - More than $1,000 was raised at a cabaret dinner benefit for Safe Harbor Adult Care Center of Ontonagon Saturday. "Celebrity" waiters gave the diners assigned to their tables the royal treatment and with the treatment collected more tips. When the dinner was over the tips totaled $958. The waiters' team of Drew Bastman and Dustin Linder were crowned top waiters with $314 in tips. The final tally raised by tips and dinner was $1,535.     WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Maxine E. Lillar, 90, of Wakefield, formerly of Flint and Davison, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
