David Nykanen was elected to the District 3 commission seat in October, 2016 when he defeated long time commission Chairman John Pelkola by three votes. GREENSBORO, N.C. - Edward G. Hoeft passed away peacefully in his sleep on Nov. 18, 2017. He was born in Bessemer, Mich., the son of Clarence and Vera Hoeft, on May 22, 1933. He graduated from A.D. Johnston High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving four years. He traveled the world during his career with the Central Intelligence Agency.
