    IRONWOOD — Beginning in the fall of 2016, every school district in the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District has agreed to apply to offer an Early College Career and Technical Education program. Gogebic Community College staff member James Halverson said the Early College CTE program expands on dual enrollment and builds from the current CTE programs the college offers.   • Walk, run, trot raises funds for those in need

    By RICHARD JENKINS [email protected] HURLEY - Despite wet weather, the Iron County Health Department lobby was filled with participants registering for the second annual Trot-4-Food Thursday. The event featured both a four-mile and 1.5-mile walk, run or "trot" through Hurley. Money raised from entry fees will enable the Iron County Food Pantry to help provide Thanksgiving dinners for area families in need, said Melissa DeCarlo, one of the race organizers.     BRUCE CROSSING, Mich. — Gertrude Irene “Gerty” Nara, 88, a longtime resident of Bruce Crossing, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015. Gerty and her twin sister, Ruth, were born on Nov. 23, 1927, in Ironwood, the daughters of Emil and Amanda (Frantila) Johnson. She graduated from Ewen High School. On July 27, 1946, Gerty was united in marriage to Wesley Emerick Nara in Ewen. They made their home in Bruce Crossing and were blessed with five children.
