    HURLEY - The Hurley Midgets barely found their basketball shoes and they were playing one of their biggest games on the schedule Monday. After trailing almost the entire second half, Hurley forced overtime and pulled away for a 67-57 victory over Chequamegon. Besides giving the Midgets (2-0) some needed early-season confidence, the victory will go a long way towards postseason seeding.     IRONWOOD - The Ironwood Red Devils put high school basketball teams on notice that they will be a force to be reckoned with this season with a 75-46 thumping of Wakefield-Marenisco in the season opener for both teams on Monday night.     IRONWOOD - The Historic Ironwood Theatre is hosting a production by the Carnegie Library's Drama Group of 23 actors and three crew members today for around 600 local students. Dress rehearsal was Monday night, with the thespians in full costume and the make-up artist taking notes for the performance. Brett Daniels, a senior at Luther L. Wright, is reprising his role as the Rooster in "Henny Penny." Today's performance will be the fourth under his belt, and he didn't have any butterflies Monday.... Full story

    WAKEFIELD - The Gogebic County Sheriff's Office held a Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotic Team (GIANT) presentation at the Wakefield City Council meeting Monday night. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Migalski; the loving mother of Michael Migalski and Patty (Pat) O’Neil; dear sister of Margaret (William) Schlomer, Jean Baker, Frank Gamache, of Bessemer, Mich., Robert (Judy) Gamache and the late Marion Pouler; and the fond aunt and friend to many.
