    ONTONAGON, Mich. — Doris Katherine Cane, 84, of Ontonagon, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital’s Long-Term Care Unit. She was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Ontonagon, daughter of the late Carl and Moselle (Colclasure) Allen. Doris graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1949. On Jan. 8, 1955, she was united in marriage to Lyal Cane. He preceded her in death in 1995. Doris assisted in operating the family business, Cane Funeral Home.     BESSEMER, Mich. - William A. "Bill" Cote Sr., 61, of Bessemer, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at his home. He was born Feb. 15, 1954, in Burlington, Vt., the son of John Sr. and Madelyn (Sullivan) Cote. Bill graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1972. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. Bill was a member of the VFW Post 3673 of Bessemer, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He especially enjoyed rebuilding old cars.     EVERETT, Wash. - Janith "Jane" Jacobson, 74, of Everett, died Nov. 28. Born to George and Dagmar Aili, she graduated in 1959 from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Mich. In 1962, Jane graduated as a registered nurse from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Duluth, Minn., with her identical twin sister, Judith "Judy" Aili, and enjoyed an accomplished career of 30 years, specializing in both pediatric and geriatric nursing care.     KIMBALL, Wis. - Norman A. Waurio, 79, of Kimball, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Norm was born on Feb. 10, 1936, in Ironwood Township, Mich., a son of Arnold John and Sigrid (Manninen) Waurio. He attended Roosevelt School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1955.   • Adams offers solution to pension liability issue

    BESSEMER — In his final appearance before the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, county prosecutor Richard Adams offered a solution to a pension liability problem. Gogebic County was the fiscal agent for the Western Upper Peninsula Manpower Consortium, which was also made up of five other counties. For 40 years, the consortium served the six counties, but it was disbanded and a new consortium was formed that now serves the entire U.P.
