HURLEY -- At its regular monthly meeting Monday, the Hurley School Board approved a floor tile fundraiser that will offer 12-by-12-inch engraved floor tiles to be installed permanently in the school's entryway.
Administrator Chris Patritto said individuals or groups may purchase the tiles, engraved with up to three lines, for a suggested minimum donation of $250. The first phase of the tile project makes 560 tiles available for sale.
A portion of proceeds from the project will go towards needs for the SMART board system already in place in every classroom; elementary textbooks, and technology needs in the middle school and high school.
Another portion will be given to the booster club for completion of the dugout project and for the beginning funds for a rubberized seal on the outdoor track. Once the track is sealed it could then be sanctioned to hold sectional track meets.
The Hurley Education Foundation will be given the last portion of the floor tile proceeds to focus its efforts on purchasing a wireless 30-computer mobile lab.
