SAXON, Wis. -- A 14-year-old boy was transported from Saxon Harbor by Beacon Ambulance Friday around 9 p.m. after a near drowning incident.
Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation was administered to the youth at the scene and he appeared responsive when taken away in the ambulance, according to witnesses at the scene. He was not responsive when pulled from the water.
Iron County Sheriff's Department recreation officer Chris Voyer said the unidentified boy, his 17-year-old sister and two other youngsters were attempting to swim across the harbor, a distance of only about 100 yards.
