HURLEY -- The Iron County Board of Supervisors voted Monday to pass a resolution to set the fees for a domestic partnership license at $75 and a 5-day waiver fee at $10, the same amount paid by those seeking a marriage license.

It was the only resolution during the meeting that did not pass unanimously. Board members James Lambert and Jack Prospero voted no.

A law was recently signed by Gov. Jim Doyle that declared domestic partnerships legal in Wisconsin, giving same-sex couples some of the same legal protections as married couples. Domestic partnerships will become legal on Monday, though a lawsuit has been brought to the Wisconsin Supreme Court that said the law violated the recent constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage.
