GURNEY, Wis. -- Jim and Gloria Rowe can lay claim to growing the prettiest crop in the county.
Thousands of sunflowers taller than the smallest Rowe grandchildren tilt their faces to the sun in two big fields on the family's hilltop Potato River Farm in Gurney.
Bright yellow sunflowers the size of saucers stand out against a cool blue and green backdrop of forest and sky.
The Rowes have planted 10 to 15 acres of sunflowers for about 15 years, according to Gloria Rowe.
"We just try things," she said Wednesday.
