MERCER, Wis. -- The Mercer Public Library plans to raise $400,000 for a major expansion of its building.
Librarian Teresa Schmidt announced the expansion plan during the library's annual celebration on Oct. 3.
The project will add a children's room, quiet study area, meeting room, increased shelving and seating.
The Mercer Library Board contracted with architect Gary Sobek of Hazelhurst to develop initial plans for the expansion. A donation from the Friends of the Library paid for those plans.
The library board's building committee will develop a fundraising plan.
