A controversial proposal to lengthen Wisconsin's gun-deer hunt to 16 days has been pulled from the Natural Resources Board's December agenda to give the Department of Natural Resources more time to review results of the 2009 hunt.
That means a 16-day hunt for 2010 is unlikely.
"Given the preliminary harvest numbers for the 2009 nine-day hunt that the DNR released earlier this week, we believe it is appropriate to postpone consideration of alternative herd control measures," said WDNR Secretary Matt Frank.
