Because of that work, there will be no snowmobile hill climb this winter.

As much as I remember Copper Peak as a child I realize today that it is not a viable investment in these trying times. In it heyday Copper Peak drew crowds from all over the world to see the ski flyers come down the hill. Big events would be held to promote these events. The Ironwood Chamber of Commerce used to host a Miss Winter Fest contest. It wasn’t just ski flying it was an event. Not just one thing to do but multiple events that drew in people that weren’t that interested in ski flying but attended for the fun. Time has changed everything about the Ironwood area. From a bustling mining town with money all over to now a sleepy northern town filled with great people but no industry. There are options to make money up there but they require something that is hard for all to do. That is care about each visitor that is there with his or her family and friends. The ingredients are all there it just needs to be stirred and cared for. The snow still comes, the water still flows, and the leaves still turn. Think of when you go to dinner and it is tip time. Do you tend to give a larger tip to someone how tells you where to grab your food and drink from the counter then leaves you till it’s time to pay or do you tend to give more when the food is brought by nice staff that chats with you and makes you feel at home? I don’t know about you but it’s an easy answer for me to say. Give back and you shall receive.
I give so much credit to the young people in the area that are pushing forward with new ideas to get people together. Snocross, Motocross, Hill Climbs, Mud Runs, anything that gets people to show there support. To all of these fine young men and women I tell you thank you from the bottom of my heart. Taking care of the town I grew up in and love. Don’t let older generations tell you what can and cannot be done. If one says no move to the next. Times have changed and it is up to you to step up and take care of what no one else is willing to do. Vision is the true knowledge of the human race.
One last thing about Copper Peak. Take 5 minutes and think back when the last time you watched, read, or talked with family or friends about any type ski flying/jumping. Yes or No please reply to this post with your answer.

Sincerely

Troy
