HURLEY -- Hurley started the golf season strong last week with a team win in the conference meet and two other solid outings. The Midgets beat runner-up and host Prentice Friday. A new conference formed this year with Hurley, Prentice, Park Falls, Mellen and Phillips. Hurley was seventh at the large-school dominated Medford Invite Saturday and second at an invitational in Prentice on Thursday. Midgets' senior Jared Reid was the top individual finisher with a 2-under 66 at the conference meet. He also won the Thursday invite and was second behind Prentice's Mycal Raleigh in Medford.
