Marenisco Library raises funds, gets new books

To the Editor:

The Friends of the Marenisco Library wish to thank all those who supported their recent fundraisers, first the NFL fanatics war which was held during the NFL season at the local convenience store, and then the pasty sale which was held earlier this month. Both were a great success, and the support of the community and surrounding area is appreciated.

New books with copyrights from 2011 and 2012 have arrived at the library. Come in and check out any of these: “The Age of Miracles,” a novel by Karen Thompson Walker; “The Red House,” a novel by Mark Haddon; “Lone Wolf,” a novel by Jodi Picoult; and the following books by Debbie Macomber — who is a favorite writer of many people — “Touched by Angels,” “A Turn in the Road,” “An Engagement in Seattle,” “The Unexpected Husband” and “You ... Again.”

The library will continue their winter hours until further notice, which are Monday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m .; Tuesday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m .; Wednesday, noon-4 p.m .; and Thursday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Children’s story hour will return on the third Saturday of April, which will be April 20. All children and parents are invited to come in and enjoy an hour of fun.

Anyone wishing to donate new or used books can drop them off at the library during regular hours. Consider donating a book in memorial of loved ones or as a gift in someone’s name for a birthday, Mother’s Day or other occasion. Volunteers are always welcome and anyone interested should stop in at the library to sign up or see what they can do. Look for future fundraisers.
