MICHIGAN STATE Police officer Glenn Gauthier, of the Wakefield Post, was recently promoted from trooper to sergeant.

“It feels very, very good,” Gauthier said.

He has been training for his new position, and said that he has “a lot to learn.”

“It’s only my first week, but things have been good,” Gauthier said. “I have a lot to learn. There is a lot of different aspects to the job, including different tasks. There is a lot of multi-tasking and switching, but things are going good.”

Gauthier came to Wakefield in 1999, and has served 13 years and nine months there. As with many troopers, the overall goal is to lead their own post someday, but as for Gauthier, he is taking it one step at a time.

“That has always been the goal, but as for right now, I am going to focusing on learning the sergeant position first, before anything else,” he said.

After all, he really does like the Wakefield Post.

“I really like this post, and my plan is to retire out of here,” Gauthier said. “I like the area, and I really like the people I work with.”
