Township commission to review zoning ordinance draft April 18

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP — The Ironwood Township Planning Commission will be reviewing a rough draft of the revised zoning ordinance during a meeting on April 18 at 6 p.m. at the Township Hall.

The goal, according to township supervisor Alan Baron, is to have residents involved with the revising process.

“We have the zoning ordinance online for people to look at, and we also have given out paper copies if people request them,” Baron said. “Having people involved with the process is important.”

The zoning ordinance has been a work in progress over the past couple of months, Baron said, with the planning commission working with an engineering firm.

The planning commission has spent numerous hours in meetings going over sections of the ordinance at a time.

“This covers the entire township,” Baron said. “We want to have community involvement. We’re taking everything one step at a time, going through the entire ordinance and getting it updated, so it works for the township.”

Residents are encouraged to submit comments or concerns about the ordinance. Baron said that written comments can be submitted to the township office, otherwise people can speak during the public comment portion of the meeting on April 18.

“We invite everyone to come out and listen to the discussion about the ordinance, and be a part of it,” Baron said. “We’ll take any comments, whether people jot them down, or wish to speak at the meeting.”
