Commencement marks end of one journey, beginning of another

Congratulations to all the graduates.

Friday’s Watersmeet High School and Gogebic County Community School commencement exercises were the final graduation ceremonies on the Gogebic Range for the Class of 2013.

It’s been a busy couple weeks for the graduation scene here, but finally the diplomas are out, tassels turned and caps flung. Let the next steps begin.

So many great things lie ahead for the Class of 2013. Signs that the economy is gaining strength should only hold out great hope for those beginning a new chapter.

We salute the teachers of our fine area schools who helped shepherd these newest graduates through their education, through their development as human beings and becoming better members of society.

Parents also deserve a tip of the hat for their support through many years of homework, school activities and character development.

Commencement marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another. Many of our area’s graduates will move on to more education, some right here at Gogebic Community College; while others will venture far, far away.

Some graduates are headed to the military and others have entered the work force, or hope to soon.

Whether their next steps keep the graduates near to home or take them far away, we hope they’ll look back at their education and formative years as strong ones.

It’s common for graduates everywhere to want to strike out on their own and start anew far away from home. We wish them well, but it’s also common for graduates from our area to want to return to all the things that make life here so nice in the Northwoods.

Congratulations to the members of the Class of 2013. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.
