Emily Rigoni Armichardy

BESSEMER, Mich. — Emily Rigoni Armichardy, 98, a longtime resident of Bessemer, entered eternal life on Thursday, June 6, 2013.

Emily was born on May 24, 1915, in Anvil, the daughter of Thomas and Maria (Costa) Rigoni. Her family moved to Newport Location in Ironwood in 1925. She graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic High School.

On Aug. 6, 1938, Emily was united in marriage with Peter A. Armichardy at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. They made their home on Hematite Street in Bessemer.

She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer, and in her younger years, she was active in the Ladies Guild.

Emily enjoyed cooking and baking, so she could always be counted on to contribute for funerals and other events.

She will be deeply missed by her entire family.

Emily is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Armichardy-Quance (Mike), Bessemer; two sons, Peter J. (Gail), Bessemer, and Paul (Jill), Silver City, N.M .; her daughter-in-law, Gail V. Armichardy, Bessemer; five grandchildren, Peter J. (Val), Weippe, Idaho, Dan (Ashley), Prairie City, Ore., Angela (Ron) Bekkala, Dover, N.H., Amy, Menominee, and Tony, Bend, Ore .; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Consie, Appleton, Wis .; and six nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 64 years, Peter, on March 1, 2002; a sister, Mary Bobcanik; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Josephine and Joseph Armichardy; and four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 12, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ben Hasse, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.

Lunch will be served in Father Swoboda Hall at the church following the cemetery service.
