Don Berger and his grandchildren, Henry and Lannea Shackleford, all of Ironwood, walk down Lowell Street Saturday as they take part in Make a Difference Day, an effort by city officials to get the public out to help clean up streets and other areas in the city.

About 20 people came, said city manager Scott Erickson.

After meeting at the Depot, volunteers spread out on their routes, armed with trash bags.

“It’s a good opportunity for kids,” said Erickson.

After their work, the volunteers were treated to a cookout at the Depot Park.
