Anne M. Keranen

IRONWOOD, Mich. — Anne M. Keranen, 90, of Ironwood, died peacefully Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, with her loving family by her side.

The former Anne LaSota was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Ironwood, daughter of the late John and Angeline (Jubek) LaSota, and attended local schools. She was employed at Grand View Hospital and the Cohodas-Paoli Co. in Ironwood and Appleton Electric and Gibson and Springs Co. in Chicago.

Anne was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and the Resurrection Choir, served on the funeral lunch committee, and was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild. She was a wonderful cook who was known for her delicious pasties and walnut roll, and was always willing to share whatever she made with her family and friends. She gave of herself to whoever needed her help and was a devoted mother, grandmother and church member. We love and miss you, Mom!

She was married to Edward P. Keranen. He preceded her in death in 1991.

Surviving are two sons, Ed (Shirley), Jackson, Mich., and Ron (Darlene), Ironwood; a daughter, Karen (Joe) Magdziak, Ironwood; six grandchildren, Paul (Kendra) Keranen, T.J. Keranen, Christie Keranen, Kellie (Jerry) Hitter, Corey (Melissa) Magdziak and Kevin Magdziak; 11 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kourtney, Kierstyn, Meranda, Arianna, Zachery, Christopher, Taylor, Samantha, Lily and Jacob; one great-great-grandson, Bryce; three sisters, Helen Struble, Milwaukee, Marge Lechman, Schiller Park, Ill., and Sister Betty Dedo, Stevens Point, Wis .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Worcester; four brothers, Joseph, Paul, Frank and John LaSota; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 25, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Ben Hasse, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.

Lunch will be served at the Elk & Hound on Country Club Road immediately upon return from the cemetery.
