'Prairie Fire' sparks area kids' interest in theater

IRONWOOD — Fifty-four local children will be gracing the stage during two performances of “Tom Sawyer,” Saturday at the Historic Ironwood Theatre.

The Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre, of Barrett, Minn., will spend the entire week working with the kids to get them ready for two performances.

Both performances are Saturday and take place at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The script and music were written by the Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre and features original numbers “Who Put the Lizard in the Split Pea Soup,” “I am the Rightful King of France” and “Walkin’ in the Boneyard.”
