Reichardt, Marciniak to perform Sunday in Ontonagon

ONTONAGON — The Ontonagon Theater of Performing Arts will host a vocal and piano concert Sunday at 7 p.m., featuring Ontonagon native Leah Reichardt and Alex Marciniak, of Ironwood.

“We’re so pleased to have Leah and Alex together on our stage,” said Carol Reid, a theater spokesperson. “It’s always special when one of our own talented young people comes home to perform. We first heard Leah sing when she was a teenager, and her soprano voice was breathtaking even at that age. We can’t wait to hear what years of study have done.”

Reichardt, the daughter of Paul and Marian Reichardt of Ontonagon, began her vocal studies in a private studio in McKinney, Texas. Since then her training has taken her to the Wausau Conservatory of Music, Wausau Wis .; a summer opera program in Italy with Scuola Italia; and a year at the Musikinstitut in Erglangen, Germany. She currently studies at MacPhail Center for Music, Minneapolis, where she successfully competed for performance-based scholarships the last four years and has twice won the school’s premier concerto/aria competition. She also won the Kenwood Symphony Orchestra’s concerto/aria competition in 2010.

Marciniak, who will accompany Reichardt on piano, has performed in Ontonagon before. “His classical concerts at the theater over the past decade have been well-attended, and this fall he will return to Ontonagon for a solo concert as part of the theater’s commitment to presenting one or more classical concerts each year,” Reid said. Marciniak is on the faculty of the music/drama department at Gogebic Community College.

Advance tickets are available in Ontonagon at Citizens State Bank, Miners Bank, Ontonagon Herald, Ontonagon County Historical Museum and Ontonagon County Telephone Company; at Settlers Federal Credit Union in Bruce Crossing; and the Citizens State Bank branches in Mass City and White Pine.

Out-of-town patrons can call Reid at 906-884-2985 to have tickets held at the door.
