David G. Carlson

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — David G. Carlson, 65, of Airport Road, Ironwood Township, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1947, in Ironwood, son of the late Robert and Caroline (Lampart) Carlson. David attended Ironwood schools and graduated from the Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1967.

From Oct. 4, 1967, until Oct. 6, 1969, he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

David was member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was employed by the Case Company in Racine, Wis., and as a welder in Kenosha, Wis. In the Northwoods, David was employed by various logging companies until retirement.

He enjoyed hunting and tending to his apple trees. He especially enjoyed landscape work and cutting trees around his home. He was a hard worker, had many side jobs, and was always doing something for someone.

On March 9, 1971, he was married to the former Sandy Maas in Rhinelander, Wis. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Dusti Webber, of Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Joshua Carlson, Tyler Webber and Sienna Webber; five sisters, Judy (Robert) Anderson and Kathy Flarida, both of Antigo, Wis., and Darlene (Jim) Wehrman, Birdie (Ken) Krizmanich and Cindy (Greg) Yanci, all of Kenosha. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by a son, David F. Carlson.

A graveside service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery on Friday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. Full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard of Ironwood.

Range Funeral Service Inc. and the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Ironwood and Hurley, Wis., is in charge of arrangements.
