Nancy L. (Bonner) Lane

MERCER, Wis. — Nancy L. (Bonner) Lane passed away on Aug. 16, 2013, from ovarian cancer.

She was born in Madison on Sept. 20, 1938, to Otho and Helen Bonner. She attended Central High School and graduated in 1956. After graduation, she decided to quit and go to work with the love of her life, Jerry Lane, at Lane’s Bakery. Nancy and Jerry worked for many years in the baking industry until they retired in 2003.

Nancy loved to read books, especially in the bathtub; she loved to fish, any kind of wildlife, the outdoors and arts and crafts. Nancy began quilting and created masterpieces. She was a member of the Lioness Club of Mercer and the Mercer Area Food Pantry Board.

Nancy looked forward to every winter so she and Jerry could go south to their home in Florida and stay out of the Wisconsin winters.

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry; two sons, Charles, of Brooklyn, Wis., and Michael (Ann), of Madison; two grandchildren, CJ and Kristina Lane, both of Madison; two sisters, Virginia (Marv) Hammes, of Verona, and Barbara Foote, of Stoughton; an aunt, Dorothy (Bonner) Gierach, of Chicago; and sister-in-law, Betty Lou (Lane) Ron Petie, of Rockford, Ill. She is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lorna Helgerson; and sister-in-law, Lois (Lane) Dorn.

The family would like to thank their family and friends for all their loving thoughts and prayers during this time. Also, a thank you goes to Louise and Dave Minisan for all their love and care during these past years, and to Ministry Hospice Care for all the care in Nancy’s final days of life.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Mercer United Methodist Church, with a gathering at the church one hour prior to the service.

An additional memorial service will be held in Madison at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Mercer Area Food Pantry, Mercer Lioness Club or Ministry-Dr. Kate Lakeland Hospice.
