ACOLYTES AND visitors make their way through Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Sunday during the parish’s centennial anniversary of its consecration in Wakefield.

According to the Rev. Ben Hasse, the parish began its existence in 1886, and it was consecrated by the bishop on Sept. 1, 1913.

The event consisted of Mass and a luncheon.

“There was a lot of real positive participation,” Hasse said. “Families were able to reconnect over generations and there seemed to be a lot of gratitude.”

Currently, the parish is working on collecting centennial history, including stories and photos.

“We’re in the process of gathering that, so if anyone has pictures or other items, we would be very interested,” Hasse said.

For more information on the event, or to submit a photo or information for the centennial history, call the parish office at 906-667-0952 or 906-224-7851.
