Katherine Raykovich

IRONWOOD, Mich. — Katherine Raykovich passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013.

The former Katherine Rupnik, daughter of Anton and Anna Rupnik, was born on Oct. 30, 1920, in Ironwood. She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1938 and attended Woodward Business College.

She was married to Anton I. Raykovich on Oct. 5, 1952, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1970.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and John Rupnik; and a sister, Anne Pisca.

Katherine was employed with the Navy Department in Washington D.C., the Liberty Loan Corporation and Jupiter Discount Store. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (Ironwood) and St. John Catholic Church (Jackson). She was a member of many community organizations. In 2004, she moved to Jackson to live with her family.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, “Candace” Katherine Artishon, of Minneapolis; a son, Tony (Carol) Raykovich, of Jackson; grandchildren, Katherine G. Artishon, Victoria Artishon, Eli Artishon, Olivia Raykovich and AJ Raykovich; and great-grandchildren, Grace Hart, Onawa Abrams and Indaanis Abrams.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. The Rev. Robb Jurkovich will be the celebrant.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home, and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.

A graveside committal service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood following the Mass.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Allegiance Hospice Home or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jackson.

Local arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood.
