Kenneth 'R.C.' Aho
MARQUETTE, Mich. — Kenneth “R.C.” Aho, 84, of Ironwood, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, in Marquette.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1928, in Stambaugh, son of the late John and Mary (Waldros) Aho. Kenneth attended Ironwood schools, graduating from Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1946. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 until 1954. He served in Colorado, New York City, Newfoundland and Greenland. In 1951, he attended school at Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado, and graduated as a photo lab technician. He was discharged on Dec. 9, 1954, as a staff sergeant.
He worked as a commercial photographer for Hirvela Studio in Ironwood. He later purchased the studio and operated it as Kenny’s Studio for many years. He loved his boats, Corvettes and classical music. He also loved to fish and paint.
Kenneth is survived by one sister, Delores (Leroy) Holappa, of Bessemer; one brother, Richard (Lyn) Aho, of Ironwood; one half brother, James (Tasha) Aho, of Kenosha, Wis .; one stepsister, Kathy (Paul) Niemi, of Ironwood; one stepbrother, Glenn Beason, of Ironwood; nephews, Timothy Aho, of Ironwood, Kevin Aho, of Saxon, Wis., Troy (Judy) Holappa, of Rubicon, Wis., Steven (Missy) Aho, of Menasha, Wis., and Kyle Aho, of Kenosha; nieces, Rebecca Aho, of Ironwood, Mary Jensen, of Saxon, Kathy Pierce, of Deerfield, Ill., Vicki Oja, of Bessemer, Tracy (Mike) Casari, of Ironwood, Dori (Paul) Mattson, of Ironwood, and Jennifer (Chris) Rowe, of Grand Junction, Colo .; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin W., Donald R., and Gerald A. Aho.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood. The Rev. Kurt Kovanen will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
